Swaha Yoga Etiquette

  • Please arrive few minutes before the class starts to allow sufficient time to get ready for the class. Remove your shoes and close cell-phones. Do not shout or speak in a loud tone.
  • In case you are running late please inform the reception before the class starts and enter the class only after the sound of OM. If it happens that you must leave early, inform the teacher at the beginning of the class. Please do not make being late or leaving early a habbit as it is important to stay throughout the whole class as well as not to disturbe others. Centering at the beginning and Savasana at the end are very important parts of the practice.
  • It is best not to eat for at least 2 hours before class time. If you must eat during that time, try eating light and easily digested food such as fresh fruit. Stay well hydrated before and after class.
  • Make sure you have taken care of your personal hygiene. Please do wear deodorant but NO PARFUME.
  • It is recommended that you wear cotton or other natural fabrics to foster electromagnetic field surrounding you during your practice and to have maximum movement and comfort. Remove your socks during practice – there should be immediate connection with the floor.
  • Inform your teacher if you have any type of injury or illness that could affect your physical ability. The asanas will be modified as needed.
  • Throughout the practice keep your awareness on what you are doing. Don’t be concerned with others in the class; yoga is a personal and not a competitive practice.
  • It is important that you follow the teacher’s instructions exactly and that you listen to your body. Proceed slowly and carefully into each posture, avoid sudden movements. Do not take any posture to the point of physical discomfort or pain. Accept any immediate limitations. Respect your body.
  • Be regular and consistent in your practice.
